It looks like Samsung has regained its confidence as a reliable tipster has revealed that the Galaxy Note 9 will feature the largest battery it’s bundled on a smartphone since the ‘Great Galaxy Note 7 Debacle of 2016’.
Ice Universe took to Twitter on June 13 to note that he is confident the Galaxy Note 9 will ship with a 4000mAh cell, which is a move that makes a lot of sense – Samsung was criticised for skimping on battery capacity on the Galaxy Note 8.
100% sure, Galaxy Note9 battery 4000mAh
— Ice universe (@UniverseIce)
This isn’t the first time that Ice has said the Galaxy Note 9 will push the envelope in the battery department, though. Back in April, the mysterious figure that Samsung’s Korean HQ was torn between two capacities – 3850 or 4000mAh.
Rivals like Huawei have been using 4000mAh cells for a while now, so Samsung is likely hoping its decision to adopt the capacity will win back some customers who turned to other manufacturers when it failed to innovate with the Galaxy Note 8.

But that probably won’t be the case as the Galaxy Note 9 isn’t rumoured to the technological marvel most customers were hoping for. It is, instead, tipped to be an iterative upgrade, retaining the same design and functioanlity as its predecessor.
Let’s not be too harsh, though. The handset should have at least couple of new features up its sleeve, like an improved dual-camera and a number of new tools for the retractable S Pen stylus, to make it more appealing to prospective customers.
