Golf pro mistakenly gets $154k British Open payout

Returning this was the right thing to do …
A golf pro in Florida named Tommy Fleetwood noticed a glitch beyond his wildest Dreams on Wednesday. He received a transfer from the European Tour for $154,480, the amount the other Tommy Fleetwood earned by finishing tied for 12th in the British Open in July.
The older Fleetwood, a golf pro at Streamsong Resort in Florida, confirmed on Wednesday that the Rumours were true:

No joke, a friend received Tommy Fleetwood’s Open Championship winnings in his bank account last weekend!! They have the same name and he was a PGA pro but still, how does this happen? Didn’t believe him until I saw it…good thing he is an honest guy!

“It was an honest mistake,” Fleetwood told Reuters. “My mother called me to say she’s been getting lots of calls from the media.”
The Landslide of information reached up the Chain to current world No. 11 golfer Tommy Fleetwood, who is preparing for this week’s PGA Championship just outside of St. Louis.
“I honestly didn’t know anything about it,” he said, per The Guardian. “I wouldn’t even know if I’d been paid or not because I don’t really look. But I’ll get on top of that …”
The 27-year-old Fleetwood has earned over $3.2 million in 2018, with his best finish coming in second at The U.S. Open, finishing one stroke behind Brooks Koepka.
The golf pro Fleetwood said he tried to join the senior tour a few years ago, which is how they had his banking information. The European Tour went so far as releasing a statement: “This was a clerical error which we are resolving and we apologize for the inconvenience caused to both parties.”
