Watch Rasmus Dahlin break an opponent’s ankles with a filthy deke

How is this guy only 17?
There are a lot of reasons to be excited about probable 2018 NHL draft top pick Rasmus Dahlin. He’s one of the best defensemen prospects in hockey history, the yin to Connor McDavid’s yang for this generation.
And in the SHL, Sweden’s top league, Dahlin is already doing stuff like this, which seems wholly unfair.

Rasmus Dahlin with some moves at the blueline vs HV71 today….

Playing HV71 is a bit different than the Tampa Bay Lightning, but this is still a remarkable display of skating and hands by Dahlin. He goes from a shot fake into a series of dekes so quickly that the opponent has little to do but wildly flail before the defenseman makes a pass.
This didn’t directly lead to a goal, but it’s a good microcosm of the various skills that will make Dahlin a potentially franchise-changing talent. The 17-year-old can already do stuff like this, and he’s only going to get better.
